Neo4j browser does not open

I have installed Neo4j desktop recently and updated to version 1.4.8 and browser version 4.3.4. The browser does not open quickly and even after opening it shows that the database server is not connected even after properly connecting with a server. The browser also hangs / freezes a lot and I have to restart it multiple times.

I have same problem. Also do I first need to go into the bin and start neo4j console? Help! Worked smoothly last year and now just frustration.
